Luderick thumpers, have taken up residence along the Nelson Bay breakwall for their winter vacation.
Reports suggest they are quality fish in top condition.
From sunrise to sunset, luderick fishers are focused on their float waiting for the moment when it starts to sink.
For the best and cheapest entertainment in town drop down to the breakwall and watch the masters at work. You may even wish to give it a go.
Big, broad shouldered flathead are busy inside the port from Tilligerry to Karuah.
Jimmy "the Crab" Longson reckons that the duskies, at this time of the year, cannot be beaten.
Garfish continue to swarm along the coast and into the port.
Join me in the Waratah Room Salamander Library on Friday evening July 12 at 7pm for my presentation on "Where we were. Where we are and - Where are we going?".
Issues I will be discussing will be our history, the future of commercial and recreational fishing, the oyster industry, the Marine Park and environmental concerns.
I am keen to hear your opinions on all the issues.
The presentation is part of a series of "Sea Stories" which are generally conducted on Wednesday nights. See you there.
