A thick blanket of fog hung over Nelson Bay on Sunday morning but for the photographers determined to snap a shot of the sunrise they rose to the challenge.
Up at the crack of dawn, a handful of photographers including Bonita Holmes-Nuu made the trek up Gan Gan Lookout to capture the moment the sun broke through the wall of white fog to rise over the Bay.
Ms Holmes-Nuu said the view from Gan Gan between 6.30am and 8.30am on Sunday, July 7 was "spectacular".
"It was a photographer's dream morning," she said. "Some of the usual sunrise [photographers] were set up at Gan Gan when I got there."
