The $8 million development has reached a major milestone - the completion of the facility's roof and 'topping out' of the project's construction.
Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC, marked the occasion on Monday with a tree planting ceremony.
"It's a great honour to be here today, and see these improved health services that the community of Tomaree need and deserve, coming together," Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.
The Tomaree HealthOne clinic, expected to be completed in early 2020, is part of the $100 million NSW Government program.
Services to be included in the Nelson Bay facility are general practice, medical imaging, community allied health, pathology and dental.
The Bay facility has the added benefit of being directly connected with the hospital, providing patients the option to visit one place for all of their health needs.
"The HealthOne program aims to create stronger and more efficient health care and improve the patient experience by providing one convenient location for delivering an integrated primary and community health care service," Mrs Maclaren Jones-said.
A focus of the HealthOne program includes improved Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems which will strengthen the connectivity between health services across the Port.
