The challenge was started in 2000 as an event for Hunter schools to stir their interest in study and possible career choices in scientific and engineering fields.
With the support of the Rotary Club of Nelson Bay, the program has become a community-wide event.
Later this month the Medowie Christian students will compete against schools from across NSW in the state final at Newcastle University, with the winning school going on to the national finals to be held this year in WA in October.
Volunteers from Nelson Bay Rotary joined fellow Rotarians from a number of clubs across the Hunter region to facilitate the running of the event. Many Port Stephens businesses also support the event through donations.
