Should the Bomboras lose, they will have to rely on other results from other grounds to make the five.
The Bomboras had a strong win over the Cardiff Cobras 34-16 last Saturday. Once again the team were slow out of the blocks and trailing 10-0 in the first quarter. However, they clicked into gear with some solid ball control to grab the lead at 18-10 at half time.
In the very windy conditions, the Bay got into the grind and just completed their sets to maintain field position. With rampaging back rower Blake Fuller working the edges he crossed for three tries. Blake Jennings had a strong game. Robbie Bryant gave a master class with the boot, kicking five from five in gale-like conditions.
The Bomboras ladies league tag team played University and, despite the conditions, produced plenty of quality football.
In the end however, the Bay ladies went down 16-10. Despite the narrow loss, they will qualify for semi-finals. The highlight in Saturday's game was beaut 80 metre solo effort by Bree Robinson. Lydia McQueen was non-stop and picked up the players' player award.
The ladies kick off at 2pm on Saturday at Fingal Oval. The men play at 3pm.
Raymond Terrace Rugby League lost to Budgewoi in the dying seconds of Saturday's game. A mistake coming out of their own end proved crucial with the Bulldogs scoring out wide to snatch victory 30-26. The Magpies were in the contest right up to the final bell after trailing 16-14 at half-time.
Bulldozing prop forward Brooke Roach led from the front scoring three tries to take his tally to 16 for the year. Players' player Duane Daley worked hard up front while young winger Kane Chester was impressive and looks a player of the future. Half back Jack Beverly played his usual reliable game.
The Ravens ladies tag team got their points on a forfeit. The Terrace are away to Wallsend-Maryland this Saturday.
