A state round of the 2019 NSW Hillclimb Championship will be held at Ringwood Park Motor Sport Complex, in Italia Road, north of Raymond Terrace, this weekend.
The event will incorporate a multi-club hillclimb, said David Atkins, president of the MG Car Club Newcastle, which is hosting the crowd-pleaser.
"This year's hillclimb will start with a practice day on Saturday, August 17, followed on the Sunday, August 18, with the the state championship," he said. "Admission fee is $5 each or $10 per car."
Practice will be staged between 10am and 3pm on Saturday before the main event, round seven of the NSW Hillclimb Championship, from 9am to 4.30pm on Sunday.
It is the second last event in the state championship.
The eighth and final event in the state championship will be held in Woolongong on September 22.
Leading the 2019 championship is Malcolm Oastler, who is closely followed by Dean Tighe.
Atkins said that the event attracts competitors from intrastate and interstate, such as Oastler who is an Australian hillclimb champion. For the first time, two 'time attack' cars will be in the mix.
"Many car enthusiasts and families are keen to attend this event which is also good for the local area as many people attending this event stay for the weekend," Atkins said.
There are two areas for spectators to watch the cars on the track from.
The major sponsor for the event is Extreme Blasting from Heatherbrae plus other Port Stephens businesses.
