The school is inviting anyone with a connection to the small township, past and present, to come along between 1.30 and 3pm on Friday, September 13, dressed up in period costume.
School principal Megan Elliott said that many in the Port Stephens community would not know that Bobs Farm was in fact named after Bob, a convict attached to the Cromarty family in the 1800s who was promised land after serving his time. "Sadly he died before this happened."
"The area was called Lower Anna Bay up until 1915. However, the postman would confuse mail with Upper and Lower Anna Bay, so the area was gazetted in September 1919 to be named Bobs Farm to avoid the confusion. The original school building was situated at Tolimba (1901-13), on the Cabbage Tree Road between Williamtown and Tomago."
The school, which celebrated its centenary on September 21, 2018, is inviting people to come along and celebrate all things Bobs Farm with students, staff, parents and community.
The celebrations will be held at the Bobs Farm school library and playground in Marsh Road. A small donation would be welcomed.
