Marine Parks Association continues its series of Sea Stories in September with a presentation on the successful rehabilitation project undertaken by National Parks and Wildlife Service on Broughton Island.

The presenter to the September 11 talk at Tomaree Library will be Suse Callaghan from NPWS who has spent the last 12 years working on the Broughton Island rehabilitation project.
NPWS undertook an ambitious project in 2009 to eradicate rabbits and rats from the Broughton group of islands. The project was a success and the islands were declared feral free in 2011.
As a result, the islands' natural environment has been on a trajectory of recovery and rehabilitation.
The September presentation will focus on the benefits the project has had on the native flora and fauna.
Discussions throughout the evening will focus on pelagic sea birds and other native wildlife which inhabit the islands and the service's projects aiding the recovery and rehabilitation of those species.
The talk will begin at 7pm. Entry is a gold coin donation.
