With a worm bait Laura tossed out her two-hook rig and Whacko! Two thumping bream bounced up the sand.
Unable to purchase live worms Laura settled on pickled worms which did the trick.
Bream are not fussy eaters,l particularly at this time of the year when they are in prime condition.
Worms, pipi, nippers, cubed pilchards, strip mullet, slimy mackerel, fresh tailor and even chicken breast are all great bait for winter bream.
Tailor have invaded Fingal, chasing unfortunate garfish which have been in residence for at least three months. A sprinkle of brown sugar on tailor fillets in a slow smoker and you will be lining up for more.
I don't know what can be done about the Karuah boat ramp, but the fishing and boating folk from Karuah tell me that their boat ramp is a "lemon". Maybe a meeting with those responsible in council could solve the problem.
Lastly, one piece of advice for our friends who wish to erect a cable car to the top of Tomaree Head - this is not Disneyland!
