The award-winning portrait and fashion photographer from Nelson Bay is seeking 30 women to join her 30 Days of Gorgeous project which she hopes will help participants feel more confident in their own skin, as well as raise funds for the Yacaaba Centre.
"Transforming women in a way they haven't seen themselves before and photographing them creates an incredible side effect of this experience," Ms Beks said.
"Often women will realise their potential, their secret powers, their true worth. It gives them the power to live, to go after what they want in life, to get out of bad relationships, to apply for new jobs, to travel, to fall in love."
Ms Beks, an AIPP master of photography, said she is always looking at new ways to push herself and develop her skills.
She began working with coloured gels in her studio, using them to create vibrant images. One idea led to another, which then led to the 30 Day of Gorgeous project.
Ms Beks is looking for 30 women to be part of the project. It is open to women of any age and body shape wanting to undergo a transformation and to showcase their greatest assets.
"This is all about self esteem," Ms Beks said. "Everyone has something that's very beautiful, but they often forget about it. This is a way to showcase those assets. Sometimes help with a pose makes all the difference."
The cost to participate in the shoot is $150. Of that cost, $100 will be donated to the Yacaaba Centre - Nelson Bay's hub of support services.
Ms Beks has teamed up with Jeannine Kastelyn, owner of Fresh Salon in Nelson Bay, to provide the hair and makeup support for the photography shoots.
The pair will support participants with styling - what they wear in their photo - hair and make-up.
Ms Beks will also ask each participant the same questions about taking part, which will be shared to her website along with the photos each day in November.
"Everyone has a story to tell," she said. "I have one woman sign up already, a miner. She wants to showcase a side of herself that she hasn't in a long time.
"No matter what your story is, what you look like, I want to help bring out that side that you have forgotten about."
Participants receive one print from the shoot for free with the option to purchase others.
