University was always in control and led 18-0 at half time.

The students ran out eventual 44-6 victors.

Nelson Bay Golf Club's senior players competing in the NSW statewide super seniors series have started their season in style with four wins from four starts.

The Bay players have had wins over Pacific Dunes 6-2, Kurri 5-3, Maitland 7-1 and Shortland Waters 6-2.

The man with the plan for the seniors is manager Paul Kennedy.

PK, along with coach Kel Wright, have crunched the numbers and formed a solid squad of golfers for this series.

With eight divisions across the state and seven clubs competing in each division the Bay club are hoping to make the divisional play offs.

There has been some very strong performances along the way with sweet swinging Graham Luke undefeated.

Also showing good form are Peter Murray, Peter Burgess and former Penrith gun Mark Barden.

The Nelson Bay Golf Club Pro Am returns on Thursday, September 19 with a star-studded line up of more than 45 professional golfers to compete for the $15,000 purse.

Amateurs will also share in the spoils with $2500 worth of prizes up for grabs.

Heading the professional line up is Peter Lonard, a good mate of the club's pro Maurie Moses, who has had a distinguished career too vast to list here.

Just a few achievements is that he played in two president cup teams, won two Australian opens, two Australian PGA events, tied first in Aussie masters with Maurie on the bag, won on the US tour and competed in all four golf majors with three top 20 finishes, and placed third in the senior British open.

Other top players include Nathan Green, James Nitties and two players who set the course record of 66 last year, Jamie Hook and Darren Beck.

The club will run a stableford competition in conjunction with the pro-am.

It is open to all golfers with AGU handicaps.
