Last year the youth of Port Stephens showed off their creative talents as part of the popular Tropfest Junior festival. This year, together with teens from Newcastle and Maitland, they hope to be shortlisted as finalists for the popular short film festival.

To help the amateur filmmakers, a short film workshop will be conducted on October 9, 10 and 11 at Linuwel School, in Morpeth Road, East Maitland, from 10am to 5pm each day, Cost is $395.
Students aged 10 to 18 will work together as a team with a director, actor and filmmaker to create a short film.
Appearing at the workshop will be Dance Academy, Blue Water High and Home and Away star Adam Saunders.
After his incredible success in all these TV shows he is now a film maker. 'Find your Voice' was his first feature that he co-wrote, produced and stared in, based on his life and is touring world wide and these holidays he is helping the teens of Newcastle, to make a short film for Tropfest and Real Film Festival Newcastle.
The team at 'Off the Beaten Track', a company bringing professional actors, trained at the prestigious acting schools including NIDA, WAAPA, VCA to schools and communities throughout Australia.
Company director Olivia Simone and her team of professional actors are committed in providing up-to-date performance skills and advice to budding young actors regardless of location. "The idea of the workshop is to bridge the gap from thinking about being an actor to learning the real tools to do it from people who have done it," she said.
All the presenters are professional actors have successful acting careers in Australia and internationally including Gyton Grantley, Lisa Gormley, Cody Fern, Gemma Pranita, James Monarski, Maria Angelico, Rebecca Johnson, Kellie Jones and Tim Potter.
