Hillclimbing will be held at the Ringwood track October 5 and 6.
It is the fourth year the hillclimb event will be staged in Port Stephens after making the move from King Edward Park in Newcastle.
"There have been 66 entries received across 14 different categories. Six ladies will be competing, the most we have had for an event at Ringwood," event hosts Newcastle MG Car Club said.
"There will be strong competition in the open wheel race cars, with three long term members going head-to-head against each other, plus the other five in the class. Possibly the largest open wheel race car gathering for a Mattara Hillclimb for many years."
Competitors involved are from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Armidale, Tamworth, Coffs Harbour and Kempsey as well as a large contingent of MG Car Club Newcastle members.
Sports car driver James Pearson, from Lake Macquarie, has broken the class record at each of the six rounds of the NSW Hillclimb Championship and already holds the Ringwood record in his Mazda RX7.
"He is very likely to break the class record for each track this weekend," the Newcastle MG Car Club said.
The Mattara Hillclimb also doubles as an interclub challenge between Kempsey, Tamworth and Newcastle car clubs.
The competition runs across both days. A different course will be contested each day. The best time from each competitor on the day is added together to determine their overall result.
Admission is $5 each or $10 a car.
