It seems sisters are really doing it for themselves, especially when it come to property sales and management across Port Stephens.

In what has been traditionally a male dominated industry, many women are enjoying great success, achieving record sales results and gaining a loyal following of satisfied clients.

Bonnie Roosendaal, Principal and Sales Director of Rain & Horne, Nelson Bay believes that women are naturally more successful because of their ability to listen and not least, the connection they often make with the decision maker of the household.

"We know that the woman is usually the decider in buying a home, as it will be her nest, so as women we tend to understand what a family's needs are."

Rebecca Dean, from PRD Shoal Bay agrees,

"Women generally are quite naturally empathetic and have the ability to listen well.

"This helps when dealing with a variety of people in order to make a better connection with the client and to identify their needs faster to be able to help them."

Jane Blair from Century 21, Medowie goes on to say,

" I believe women take the time to listen to what a client wants, they are more empathetic to their clients needs and they are genuinely in it for the relationships they build and not out to make a quick buck."

Michele Jones, The Real Estate Lady endorses this view, explaining that women tend to lean toward the details of the sale, rather than toward the end result.

"I think men are ambitious for the kill rather than the skill - women appreciate details more than price.

"Matching a buyer to a property isn't just about how much the bank will lend you, it's what your family's prerequisites are and how they can be best met for your budget - I think women in real estate understand this better."

It's fair to say that the process of buying and selling a home can be an emotional one, with that then in mind, women often possess the attributes that can help ensure the sale of a property runs smoothly.

"I believe women have the compassion, integrity and understanding for people when assisting them with the sale or purchase of their most valuable asset - their home." Added Kim Wescott, Sales and Marketing Consultant at O'Meara Property.
