Competing for Australia in the under-16 boys division, the 16 year old from Corlette opened his ISA world junior championship campaign with two victories. He posted 10-point two-wave totals to win in rounds one and two.
Clayton-Brown then edged out fellow under-16 Australian teammate Zeb Stokes 10.57 to 9.52 in round two.
He faced repechage rounds after finishing last in his round-four heat.
Clayton-Brown bowed out of the championship in repechage round six alongside other under-16 teammate Joel Vaughan.
The Australian junior surfing team finished the championship in sixth place overall against 44 other nations.
