Nelson Bay Golf Club hosted the 22nd Angel Billy Golf Classic on Sunday with 160 golfers supporting the day in perfect conditions and in the process raising over $20,000 for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. Overall winners for the event was the awesome foursome of Simon Law, Jason Pepper, Peter Gibson and Jason Gascoigne. The mixed event was won by Graham and Kath Allen, Ray Carruthers and Gary Troon. Maureen Brown, Catherine Smith, Brenda Walk and Shelly Kertesz won the ladies section. It was a great day with wonderful community support.

NELSON Bay Cricket Club A-grade team got their season back on track with a win over Redhead. Tight bowling by the Bay laid the foundation with Ashishi Prasher taking 3-25, Kean Senartnes 2-22 and Matt Palmer 2-21. Kean was also equal top scorer with 31 while Andrew Daly showed courage under fire when struck on the nose by a bouncer mid-innings.
He retired then returned late to hit the winning runs with a neat 31. B2 lost an exciting contest to Beresfield chasing 5-91. The Makos fell just short at 8-89. Wayne Banks had a great day scoring 19 runs and produced impressive figures with a fine spell of bowling. B1 went down to Adamstown.
TOMAREE Triathlon Club held its November meet on Sunday with a good roll up of over 70 contestants. The short course (250m swim, 11km bike, 3km run) was won by Louis Cotter from Danny James and Brad Kinder in third.
The ladies section was won by Sienna Kinder from Katherine Parker with Alana James in third. A pleasing part for the club is the young talent coming through the ranks with Sienna and Alana the daughters of the second and third place-getters in the men's event.
The long triathlon (500m swim, 22km bike, 6km run) was won by Scott Llewellyn from Blake Parker. Young gun Kyle Morrison in third spot. The December 8 triathlon will feature the Dave Swan memorial run with all funds raised going to Tomaree breast cancer committee.
NELSON Bay Bowling club had a strong win in the final of the division three, Three Threes bowls knockout played over three months with 57 clubs from Newcastle, Port Stephens and the Hunter participating. The Bay had two teams both make the semi-finals. The blue team bowed out against Dora Creek. The gold team won the final against Dora Creek in style, 64-39. The skippers who lead their teams to victory were Peter Moxham, Gary Price and Mick McGreggor.
Two of the Bay club's top bowlers won the inaugural state over 40 pairs title. Chris Edmonds and Shannon Gittoes defeated a team from Merrylands Bowling Club at Maitland City two weeks ago.
