Community Helping Community (CHC) Inc, established in 2016 to promote well-being in residents affected by PFAS, will host the free family fun day on Saturday, December 7, at the Port Stephens Church of Christ, in Nelson Bay Road, Salt Ash, from 9am to 2pm.
CHC member Sathya Thiru said that the day, open to the entire Port Stephens community, was a way of bringing people together in a positive way while celebrating the joy of Christmas joy.
She said the day was being promoted and funded by the Primary Health Network.
"There will be a sausage sizzle, drinks, music and entertainment, vintage car and motorbike displays, jumping castle and of course a visit from Santa on the fire truck. Also on display will be some of the many activities enjoyed by the group, including friendship, gardening, exercise, yoga, arts and craft plus a special learn to crochet class with Roz Hill."
Sharon Nelmes, community liaison officer for Williamtown health, said that the day would include information for local counselling services - including the Jupiter program, part of COPSY, and Beyond Blue - and material on the promotion of good mental health.
CHC members meet most days of the week at the church grounds, offering a range of community activities and programs for Port Stephens residents.
