Whiting have arrived on the beaches from Stockton north to Fingal.
It seems that whiting know when the summer holidays commence as they join in at this time every year.
Best beaches are Stockton and Fingal and the best bait is a savage worm.
Whiting are busy inside the Port cruising over all the sandy beaches on high tide.
With the holidays in full swing it is pleasing to report that the fish are going crackers with dusky flathead right throughout the Port from Shoal Bay west to the Karuah River.
Plastics and baits tossed into the shallows on the top of the tide on dawn and dusk. Toss out and hang on.
Snapper are in excellent numbers over the deeper reefs when the sea is relatively calm moving in close as the sea builds.
Fishermans Bay, Fingal Light, Boondelbah and Broughton Island are red hot spots. Just a reminder that the Fingal ramp to the beach is closed for safety reasons.
Finally the crabs are dancing with thumping muddies, to a mighty two kilos, doing the Stomp west of Soldiers Point. Blue swimmers are a bit slower to join in.
Just a reminder, witches hats traps are banned in Port Stephens.
