Funds raised through the Port Stephens Mayoral Bushfire Appeal golf day and auction, held at Nelson Bay Golf Club last Thursday, will be split evenly between the Port's Rural Fire Service brigades and the Salvation Army.
"Nelson Bay Golf Club is proud to have co-sponsored the RFS fund raiser with Mayor Ryan Palmer. Again a very big thank you to our community for your support," Trevor Harrison, general manager of Nelson Bay Golf Club, said.
One hundred and 80 people turned out to play in the golf day. Attendees reached deep into their pockets to make generous monetary donations.
The event was supported by Port Stephens businesses and individuals.
All auction items were donated by Port residents, businesses and friends of the region, including Dungog mayor Tracy Norman and the Newcastle Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes.
