Through the support of Port Stephens Council, an Alesco school open day will run from 9.30am to 11.30am at Raymond Terrace on Saturday, April 4. This would be followed on the same day from 12noon to 2pm with a short film festival at Raymond Terrace Library
The Nextwave Regional Youth Film Showcase will feature 20 of the best new original short films produced in the last year by young regional film makers. The 90 minute showcase will start with a premiere of a short film created by students from Alesco campus in Raymond Terrace.
In Nelson Bay an enviro festival will take place on April 4 from 10am to 1.30pm at Tomaree Library.
This event will celebrate opportunities and initiatives with an environmental sustainability focus, featuring lots of free hands on workshop activity, information about local groups including Plastic Free Port Stephens, and the screening of the film 2040.
On the afternoon of April 4 from 12noon to 4.30pm the Tomaree Youth Community Action group will conduct its hugely popular annual Skate & Scooter comp at Nelson Bay's Fly Point. The event will feature great prizes for skateboard and scooter riders.
Youth Week will also be celebrated on Thursday, April 9, from 3pm to 6pm with a Hume Housing and The Deck art project, featuring painting of totem poles on site at The Deck.
Other possible events include a Centre 4 Hope youth event at Tanilba Bay, which include a cafe chill zone, music, coffee cart (the new 'Social Enterprise') plus art and games.
A Raymond Terrace Library mural is also being planned.
