The surfing body did not release new dates for the event, which is held as part of the Port Stephens Surf Festival, but said the state titles would be postponed "until a further date".
"After consultation with Port Stephens Council, event stakeholders and addressing all potential options, Surfing NSW has opted to postpone the event until later in the year," Surfing NSW said in a statement on March 31.
"All competitors for the event will be notified and kept up-to-date by Surfing NSW."
The events were originally scheduled to run back-to-back Birubi and One Mile Beach from April 30 to May 5.
Up to 200 of the state's best SUP and longboard riders turn out to the festival annually.
Historically, competitors have traveled from as far south as Tomakin and as far north as Tweed Heads to enter the Port Stephens event
The results of the NSW Longboard and SUP Titles decide the NSW Team for the Australian Longboard and SUP Titles which are decided at the end of the year.
Surfing NSW said the 2020 event will replicate the format from previous years which uses a second chance format across all divisions.
"Depending on the number of competitors some divisions may be reduced to straight knockout," it said.
"For the second time we will be adding a fun-filled tag team event.
"Each team will be made up of four surfers.
The team must be made up of one junior (male or female) and at least one over-40 competitor (male or female)."
