Tomaree Business Chamber's Leah Anderson and Peter Clough, said that the reopening had provided some positive feedback as many businesses begin to reopen after weeks of uncertainty due to the coronavirus crisis.
"This is fantastic news ... there is a very positive feel about town with the easing of restrictions and the reopening of the carpark after months of construction is very timely," Mr Clough said.
"We are still awaiting some lighting and over time we hope to add some trees and plants to give the site a more appealing look. Entry and exit points will remain via Donald Street."
Mr Clough said that the Port Stephens Council carpark would accommodate 112 vehicles and was currently available for unrestricted parking whilst reviews were being conducted ready for smart parking in this area.
"Parking meters along Victoria Parade have now been turned back on and are operational on weekends and public holidays."
