"The health of our community is my number one concern at the moment," Ms Swanson said.
"We can only tackle the spread of coronavirus if each and every one of us takes responsibility and the necessary precautions. So please, if you have even the mildest of symptoms, stay home, and call your GP or the coronavirus hotline - 1800 020 080 - to find out if you should get tested.
"If you've been tested and waiting for results, you should self-isolate until you have them."
The Paterson MP has reassured the community that social distancing remains the most effective way to reduce the spread of the virus.
"Where that is not possible, the research shows that masks and regular hand washing can also help," she said.
"We live in a beautiful part of the world and many in our community are vulnerable and may be scared to leave their home. If you know a vulnerable person that lives alone, give them a call to see how they are doing and if they need assistance. And remember, help from my office is available."
The office located in Raymond Terrace can be reached on 4983 2401.
