Chief executive officer Gordon Laffan said that staff and members were greatly relieved to receive the news and that "no further action needs to be taken by members or the wider community".
"The club has now been cleaned and we will reopen on Thursday as normal. I ask that you understand the club has been proactive in its approach to community health and has gone above what was required to ensure no risk to our wonderful community," he said.
"As a result I ask for your ongoing support for your local club when we reopen and I look forward to welcoming back patrons to a clean, COVID safe environment."
The club had been notified on Tuesday morning that a patron who visited the venue on Sunday, August 9, had recently been in contact with someone who had since tested positive for COVID-19.
"Upon learning that they were a close contact, the patron notified the club and undertook a test," Mr Laffan said.
NSW Health was advised and the club closed its doors for a deep clean.
Mr Laffan said that the club continues to operate under a robust CovidSAFE plan, including maintaining a digital register, dedicated CovidSAFE marshals to enforce social distancing, as well as the provision of hand sanitiser and regular intensive cleaning practices.
Earlier story, Tuesday (August 11):
Club Lemon Tree has shut its doors for a deep clean until Thursday while testing for a close COVID-19 contact case is undertaken.
Chief executive officer Gordon Laffan told the Examiner on Tuesday that the club was notified at approximately 10am that a patron who visited the venue on Sunday, August 9, had recently been in contact with someone who has since tested positive for COVID-19.
"Upon learning that they were a close contact of the positive case, the patron notified the club and has undertaken a test," Mr Laffan said.
"NSW Health has advised that no further action is required at this stage from either the club or anyone who was at the club on Sunday, however out of an abundance of caution the club will close for a deep clean and will stay closed until August 13."
Mr Laffan said that the club had been operating under a robust CovidSAFE plan, which had gone above and beyond government requirements, including maintaining a digital register, dedicated CovidSAFE marshals to enforce social distancing, as well as the provision of hand sanitiser and regular intensive cleaning practices.
"The club will provide a further update when the test result becomes available," Mr Laffan said.
"Be assured we have our communities best interests to the forefront and have taken these measures that are way above what is required."
