The Port community is invited to have their say on all three issues before Friday, October 23.
The council report said that the primary aim of the Tree Vandalism policy was to reduce the incidence of vandalism to public trees and vegetation on council managed land.
"Public trees are a valued public asset and the effective deterrence that the policy is expected to provide will further protect these assets, resulting in improved local amenity and the ongoing provision of the environmental services that these trees and vegetation provide (habitat, shade, wind amelioration, soil stabilisation etc)."
The Environment Policy would provide guidance on developing council's sustainable performance and ensure its ongoing consistency with the Environmental Management Standard; while the Code of Conduct and Benefits policy would support the Code of Conduct in the management of gifts and benefits provided to council officials and to set a framework of when it is acceptable to accept a gift or benefit in the capacity of a council official. All councillors are bound by the code of Conduct.
The revised policies are on exhibition at council's administration building in Raymond Terrace, at Raymond Terrace and Tomaree libraries or they can be found on the council website.
Submissions can be lodged in writing to the GM at Port Stephens Council until 5pm Friday, October 23, at PO Box 42, Raymond Terrace NSW 2324, or via email at environment@portstephens.nsw.gov.au.
