The sub-branch is planning to conduct a COVID-safe Remembrance Day service on Wednesday, November 11, starting at 10.50am.
The ceremony will be held at the cenotaph in Nelson Bay's Apex Park but will be markedly different to previous years' commemorations.
Sub-branch secretary Russell Durrant, a Vietnam veteran who served with 5RAR Battalion in 1966-67, said that the service would take on a different look in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"As part of a designated area in the vicinity of the cenotaph, we are restricted to inviting only 20 people to attend and take part in the service," he said.
"Our vice-president Tom Lupton will preside over the service and he will be joined by the padre, Reverend Frank Duffy, who will perform a dedication to those members who have passed in the last year and a prayer.
"This will be followed by the sounding of The Last Post and Reveille. We hope to finish just after 11am."
Mr Durrant said that those in the official party would need to undertake all the COVID safe protocols, including providing names and contact numbers and having their temperatures checked.
Anyone else interested in attending the service would be required to also heed the health advice and keep their distance.
