Port Stephens Council said its $51,000 project to create an off leash dog area in Boomerang Park began on Monday and would be available for use in late November.
Funding for the Raymond Terrace dog park was allocated by councillors as part of the Port Stephens 2020 priority projects process in August 2019.
In May 2020, councillors voted in favour of going forward with creating a fenced off leash dog park for Raymond Terrace.
Boomerang Park was considered the best option as it has an existing off leash area, parking options and existing supporting facilities such as toilets and connecting pathways.
The off leash dog park will be constructed between the Boomerang Park Men's Shed and Raymond Terrace Vacation Care centre.
