After decades playing in the city and suburban cricket competition, the Bay's teams joined a mass exodus of clubs from the C&S competition due to a lack of transparency over the past few years.
Suburban districts are under the umbrella of Newcastle District Cricket Association and NSW Cricket.
On the field, things look good. After three rounds, the Bay's division two and three teams has one win and two draws to their name.The division four team has drawn all three rounds.
In the second division game played at Nelson Bay on October 31, the Makos defeated Kotara 7/126, finishing with 7/129.
The batting line up was solid with Sam Triffitt scoring 57 runs with Matt Palmer 25 and Bryce Causley a quickfire 17 from 15 balls.
The bowlers made early in roads with Ian Dixon 4-36, Simon Plummer 2-9 and Palmer tidy with five overs 0-2.
The Makos division three team compiled 6/105 with Wayne Banks scoring 32 n.o. Thomas McCoy rattled up 18 runs and had the good figures of 2-26 with Craig Pickette picking up 2-32.
The Nelson Bay under-15 team had a strong win over Newcastle City.
PORT Stephens PCYC Cub at Nelson Bay provides plenty of activities for the young and old alike with basketball a very popular sport under coach Dan Howard.
The game continues to expand with seniors playing over two nights - an eight team competition on Tuesday night and a six team competition on Thursday night.
The junior basketballers are also on the rise with skills clinics on Monday afternoon.The 5 to 8 years age group meet at 4pm, the 9 to 12 years' at 4.45pm and 13-plus years at 5.30pm.
To participate you must be a member of the PCYC, which costs $8.
The PCYC club celebrated its 40th anniversary in October.
NELSON Bay Golf Club has held the final of their match play championships.
The A-grade winner was Will Semmens who defeated Rob Fitzgerald. The B-grade championship went to Alan Bailey in a tight contest with runner up Sam Cockburn.
The club's stroke play championships will be played over four rounds starting on November 28-29.
The final two rounds will be played December 5-6.
The C-grade pennant team advanced to the final of the NDGA pennant series and will play Belmont Golf Club after winning their semi final against Merewether 4.5 to 1.5.
