The division 2 team rallied late to defeat the Premier Hotel with big hitting Ryan Gander scoring 61 including seven fours and two sixes and Matt Palmer 45.
The pair put on a 100-run partnership for the eighth wicket to overhaul Premier Hotel's 7/146 total.
All-rounder Matt Palmer chimed in with 3-23. In division 3 the Makos thrashed Waratah-Mayfield, with Tom McCoy starring with the bat (55) and skipper Miles Eckersley contributing 35.
Opening bowler 16-year-old Ed Williams spearheaded the attack with 3-6 from five overs, Tom McCoy finished with 2-2 and Preston Brealey 2-4.
Waratah were all out for 40. In division 4 the Dukes (4/220) outgunned the Makos 6/137, with Lucas Vincent hitting 35 and returning the figures of 2-35, while Mark Fahndrich 26 and Brandon Thompson 2-48 made solid contributions.
THE NELSON Bay Sharks rugby league club held its annual general meeting at the Seabreeze Hotel last Thursday followed by the under 19 presentation on Sunday.
The newly elected board for the 2021 season is president Scott Dews, secretary Annie Whitton, treasurers Leanne Jenkins and Annie Whitton, and committee Cassandra Robinson and Craig Dick.
The under 19 team had a fair season in their first year in the elite Newcastle competition under coach Andrew Chapman.
The award winners were best back Bailey Steed, best forward Jackson McIntyre, and coaches award Jake Wozniak.
The Sharks will field an under 19s men's team, ladies tag and ladies tackle teams if numbers permit in 2021.
THE NELSON Bay Golf Club championships are in full swing and with with rounds down and two to play.
Played in tough conditions with soaring temperatures on Saturday and windy conditions on Sunday, the competition ladder is on a knife's edge.
In A grade there are two former Nelson Bay rugby league players in the mix for the champions title, with Rod Barker on 149 with rounds of 75-74 just in front of Jamie O'Conner on 151.
Young gun scratch marker Harry Cleare is on the pace at 153.
In B grade Brett Allman leads on 168 from Mark Galloway, while the C grade leader is Lachlan Lawson from Rod Cox, and D grade Sam Cockburn, leads from Danny Petith the players will be hoping for milder conditions for the final two rounds this weekend.
NELSON Bay Cricket Club this week celebrated the opening of its Korora Oval two-lane synthetic training facility and synthetic match wicket on Soldiers Point Road at Salamander Bay.
The club received funding through the NSW ICC T20 2020 World Cup Cricket Legacy Fund and the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund jointly funded by Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW
Nelson Bay Cricket Club had contributions from Local Government and affiliated cricket stakeholders.
Expected to attend the presentation held on Tuesday were NSW government representative Taylor Martin MLC, Port Stephens Council's community and recreation asset officer Clinton Bridge, a number of Cricket NSW representatives and Nelson Bay Cricket Club volunteers.
