When I come to think of it, Port Stephens must be one of the most ideal holiday destinations for those interested in fishing and boating.

From Stockton to Tomaree Headland, our beaches are fantastic for fishing particularly at this time of year when the whiting are going crackers.
Inside the Port the options are many with crabs, whiting, bream, mulloway, flathead and squid to name a few.
Outside the heads the islands Fingal, Boondelbah, Little and Broughton each have their own personality and resident fish population.
Snapper, kingfish, groper, leatherjacket, drummer, mulloway and bream. The same fish gather around all the headlands from Birubi to Fingal.
For the boating enthusiast the local waterways inside and outside the port offer so much. The huge expanse of the port offers numerous safe options from the western extremes of Swan Bay and North Arm Cove, to the quiet waters of the Karuah River and Tilligerry which is far more than a Creek.
The Myall Lake system is a whole new ball game. The journey from Tea Garden to Tamboi is worth the effort alone.
Remember, boat access to Fingal Bay is closed for safety reasons and will reopen at the end of the holidays.
