Second and third prize winners announced on January 26 were 'Last Stand' by Lisa O'Donnell, a triptych acrylic of the beautiful trees of Tomaree Peninsula and 'Into the Burley Bucket' by Bev McKinnon-Matthews, a collage of Gyotaku hand prints of local sea-life.
Special commendations went to Diana Atkinson's 'Retain the Waterfront', Emma Bowen's 'Nelson Bay Baths 1935', and Molly McCauley's 'Mullet Run'.
Competition judge Paul Maher praised the high quality of entries while the winners were presented by AGL community relations manager Ernesto Calderon.
"Tomaree Museum Association thanks all artists for their great efforts and hopes that a similar event can be arranged next year," TMA president Ian Farnsworth said.
There are 73 entrants in the AGL Port Stephens Art Competition which will be on display in a free exhibition at Broughtons at the Bay at d'Albora Marinas, Nelson Bay from January 23 to 31.
Winners of the competition were announced on Australia Day.
Visitors to the exhibition will have an opportunity to vote for the Peoples' Choice Award.
All art will be on sale with a percentage of proceeds helping fund the Tomaree Museum Project.
