The popular Nelson Bay boat ramp will be closed from 6.30am on Monday, February 1 to 4.30pm on Tuesday, February 2 while Port Stephens Council carries out the works to "ensure the ramp is safe for users" ahead of the NSW Government grant funded reconstruction.
"As this is one of our busiest boat ramps, the works are being conducted outside of school holidays to limit disruption," the council stated.
"We recommend using one of the many other boat ramps in Port Stephens including Shoal Bay, Soldiers Point and Lemon Tree Passage."
Plans for the boat ramp upgrade have been developed by the council after it was granted $1,671,000 for the project through the NSW Government's Boating Now program in August last year.
The council has contributed a further $430,000 to the project.
The $2m will be used to upgrade the existing facilities at Little Beach boat ramp. This will include the construction of a new raised and longer boat ramp, accessible toilet amenities, improved pathways and car park.
