The $110,000 project also aims to replace the amenities block and park furniture along the popular Shoal Bay waterfront.
The newly appointed Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Taylor Martin, was in the Bay on Monday to announce more than $653,000 in funding for a total of 16 local improvement projects for crown land reserves and community facilities in the region.
Mr Martin said the funding under the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund was a great example of two forms of government working together for the improvement in infrastructure in Port Stephens.
"In total $653,172 has been secured for regional projects this year under the program to maintain and upgrade local reserves as well as facilities located on them," Mr Martin said.
"This funding will see infrastructure upgrades to buildings, reserves, foreshores and local clubs as well as the maintenance to treat invasive weeds."
Mayor Ryan Palmer said that the Port Stephens Council would provide additional funds for the much-needed pathway and infrastructure upgrades along Shoal Bay's foreshore.
"The state funding will allow us to go further than originally planned and means that we can now link the holiday park to the Shoal Bay waterfront," he said.
The $110,000 funding for the Shoal Bay work was matched with another major Port Stephens project - the construction of a new skate park and playground, repair and upgrade accessibility to the sport amenities building and construction of a new multisport court on the Mallabula sports ground.
"Another $110,000 has been allocated for the replacement of the public toilets, change rooms and kiosk at Stuart Park in Hinton with a new amenities building and kiosk."
Mr Martin said that $44,364 would be used for repairs and maintenance on the Nelson Head Lighthouse and Rescue Station Reserve, including painting of buildings and repair of paths and paved areas, while $39,487 will go towards controlling weeds near One Mile Beach.
"There will be $35,344 in funding to control aquatic weeds throughout the Hunter, Paterson and Williams rivers, as well as throughout the Riverside Caravan Park foreshore, and $32,498 to repair and upgrade the pony club arena surface at the Green Wattle Creek.
"Also, we have $27,596 to control weeds at Mallabula Public Recreation Reserve; $25,759 to control weeds at Anna Bay crown reserves; $23,070 to construct two shade awnings, a concrete area and tree maintenance at Taylors Beach Scout Hall; $21,581 to treat invasive weeds managed by crown lands at Parish Reserve Tomaree; and $20,253 to control weeds on Crown Foreshore Reserve in the Port Stephens LGA.
"A total of $17,739 will be used to control bitou bush on crown land at Zenith Beach, Box Beach and
North Fingal Beach; $16,695 for repairs and maintenance at the Nelson Bay Girl Guides centre including repair of door jambs, a new emergency exit door, stair repairs, landscaping, and installation of solar panels; $14,806 for stabilisation of a sand dune encroaching onto mobile home villages at Gan Gan Road, Anna Bay; and $3,980 to construct a driveway from the roadway at Port Stephen's Women's Crisis Centre."
Mr Martin said that he would continue to speak up on behalf of the Hunter region and to work with locals to ensure their unique issues and challenges are heard.
"I look forward to working as a parliamentary secretary within the Berejiklian Government and for the Cost of Living."
The role became available after Catherine Cusack was relieved of her duties by Premier Berejiklian after crossing the floor to vote against the controversial koala (Local Land Services) bill.
