Funding from the annual state government grants program can be used by community and not-for-profit groups for building or renovation projects, or to purchase equipment.
Given the impact of COVID-19 on local not-for-profit organisations, Ms Washington is encouraging community groups to apply for funding to kick-start their re-openings and enable services and events to resume.
"Local groups have many wonderful plans and this funding can see projects become reality," Ms Washington said.
"Previous grants have been used to kick start the Port Stephens Koala Hospital, the Hawks Nest Bridge Club, Tilligerry Scouts hall getting solar and batteries, the Wirreanda Public School yarning circle, and an upgrade to Seaham Park."
"I know how difficult it has been for groups to raise money over the past year, so this grant funding could help kick start the projects people have been thinking about during lockdown."
Application are open until Friday, May 14.
Successful applications will be announced in November.
