Crews from Raymond Terrace and Salamander Bay fire stations were called to Fenninghams Island Road, Bobs Farm about 2.17am.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a caravan well alight and worked for more than an hour to prevent the fire from spreading across the caravan park.
"No one was injured during the blaze however a number of nearby caravans suffered heat and smoke damage," a FRNSW spokesperson said.
"Thankfully the caravan had a working smoke alarm which prompted neighbours to call Triple Zero."
Rural Fire Service crews also responded to the fire.
FRNSW Superintendent Scott Dodson said the incident was a timely reminder of the importance of having a working smoke alarm.
"Only working smoke alarms save lives, it is important smoke alarms are checked often and replaced every 10 years and batteries replaced when required," he said.
"The risk of a fatality in a house fire is halved if the home has a working smoke alarm."
