A launch party to view the completed makeover works will be held on Saturday from 9.30am to 10.30am, starting from the Medowie Community Centre off Lions Park. Register to attend the free launch party here.
Step Back into King Street Heritage Festival
Be transported back in time - the 1800s - with this free festival in Raymond Terrace. Program highlights include cannon and musket volley firing by the 40th Regiment of Foot, seeing a historical vessel, William the Fourth, cruising the river, performances by the Raymond Terrace Men's Shed Band, Irrawang High School Drum Corps, Maitland Pipes and Drums Band, Port Stephens Community Band and the Voyage of Irish Dance, Town Crier Ben Tranter in action, a simulated wedding under the Marriage Trees, traditional games and a variety of stalls to visit. King Street, Raymond Terrace will be blocked off to traffic throughout Saturday. The festival runs 10am to 3pm.
Raymond Terrace Fire Station open day
The doors to Raymond Terrace Fire Station will be open to the public on Saturday and firefighters will be on hand to chat with residents about fire safety, plus give children a chance to hop into a truck. The Fire and Rescue NSW Open Day will return on May 15, with the Lakeside Leisure Centre-based fire station open from 10am to 2pm.
Whale watching reconnaissance cruises
Moonshadow-TQC and Imagine Cruises will launch their early bird whale watching cruises on May 15 before the official season kicks off on June 1. Moonshadow is offering 11am daily departures from Nelson Bay and Tea Gardens until May 28. Dine and Discover NSW vouchers can be used for Moonshadow and Imagine whale watching cruises.
Tanilba Bay Markets
President Wilson Walk, Tanilba Bay from 9am to 12pm. Tanilba Bay Markets takes place every third Saturday and feature local produce, bric-a-brac, crafts and entertainment.

Nelson Bay Legacy Markets
The Nelson Bay Legacy Markets take place on the first, third and fifth Sunday of every month in Neil Carroll Park, Shoal Bay Road and Victoria Parade, Nelson Bay from 9am-3pm. On offer is handicraft stalls and other great local produce, art and pottery, plus plant and cake stalls.
Boomerang Park Markets
The community markets at the senior citizens hall in Irrawang Street, Raymond Terrace runs 8am to 1pm. More than 30 stalls will be on offer including candles, clothes, bric-a-brac, oils, toys, diamond dots, food and coffee.
