On July 6, aspiring Port Stephens footballers aged 6-13 attended an all-day Newcastle Jets Holiday Football Clinic at Nelson Bay, where players enjoyed skill development and fun games, morning tea and lunch as well as receiving a merchandise bag and Jets holiday clinic playing shirt.
The clinic was run by Cassidy Davis from the Newcastle Jets W-League team.
Martine Shaw, from Nelson Bay FC, said that the strong demand for the clinic with 100 attendees was pleasing.
"We are so appreciative to have these opportunities in our region it really helps develop players love of the game. There were a lot of tired but happy faces at the end of the day. We are extremely excited about the Newcastle Jets 10-20 week Skills Program that is commencing in Term 3 here for the first time."
The skills program will be held at Nelson Bay fields on Monday and/or Friday afternoons, commencing July 12 (run during terms 3 and 4).
"The program is aimed at developing the skills of young footballers in the Port Stephens region, under the guidance of Newcastle Jets-trained coaches, adhering to a structured skills program. The program has been designed by the Jets Academy Technical Director and Community Liaison Officer and is available thanks to partner, Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group."
