The government-funded series presents a unique opportunity to boost SME defence capabilities and competencies, build relationships, find new opportunities and tap into the $270 billion defence industry in 2021 and beyond.
Business Port Stephens has partnered with Hunter Defence in promoting the seminar to all Port SMEs and inviting them to take part in a Zoom seminar on Wednesday, September 29 from 3pm-4.30pm.
"Business Port Stephens continues to pave the way forward with valuable resources for our members and our business community. We are delighted to be able to host this wonderful opportunity in conjunction with Department of Defence for the businesses in the Port Stephens region," Mel Turner, the business network's president, said.
"To have valuable insight into the opportunities made available by Defence for our business sector, not only provides a valuable resource but also introduces new opportunities that may not have been considered by many businesses in Port Stephens.
"Having the three-tiered entry level provides more opportunities for a broader range of businesses to register. I highly encourage any business sector, big or small to get on board and register for this very unique and exciting opportunity."
Monthly meetings would be conducted over the next 12 months and include 13 modules - each a complete course with virtual workshops, eLearning, videos, podcasts and question and discussion sessions.
Tim Owen, Hunter Defence chair, said that seminars would be prepared for three business levels: Explorer, Exponent and Expert.
"The series is being delivered thanks to funding and collaboration with the Centre for Defence Industry Capability and, for each seminar, 40 funded places available to SMEs," he said.
"Defence requires capable supply chains across all areas of business from professional services to manufacturing, logistics and product development.
"This is why it is recommended that all Port Stephens-based businesses attend this event, it's incredibly interesting to hear about what services and products the Defence industry needs."
