At the inaugural Dowling Medowie Charity Golf Day in October 2019, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, 60 participants helped to raise $4555 for the McGrath Foundation.
Greg Brown, director of Dowling Property Medowie, said he has high hopes that the 2021 event, which is scheduled to return to Pacific Dunes on Friday, October 15, would surpass the $5000 mark.
"We've already had a lot of local businesses jump on board and sponsor a hole or donate raffle prizes," Mr Brown said.
"I'm confident we'll be able to raise even more for the McGrath Foundation this year. It's the first time we've opened the event to sponsorship and our raffle is online this year, opening it to even more people."
The event has also attracted a major sponsor in Dillon and Elbourn accountants in Raymond Terrace.
With NSW set to begin reopening from October 11, and the golf day organised as a COVID-Safe event, it is expected to go ahead at the Medowie golf course on October 15 as a two person Ambrose.
It is open to Port Stephens LGA residents, men and women.
"It's a great event for a great cause but as well as that, after the months we've spent in lockdown, it's a great reason to get outdoors, to get moving and socialise as best as we possibly can at the moment," Mr Brown said.
Dowling is taking participant registrations now. The cost to enter is $100 per person which includes green fees, lunch and a donation to the McGrath Foundation.
The event has been bolstered by the addition of an online raffle, which has more than 25 prizes. Tickets start at $5.
The raffle will go live online on October 1 and close October 15.
The raffle will be drawn live on Dowling Property Medowie's Facebook page at 7pm on October 15.
"We've been offered some really great prizes from local businesses," Mr Brown said.
To participate, donate a prize to the raffle or sponsor a hole contact Mr Brown on 0418 842 259 or email gregbrown@dowlingmedowie.com.au.
A fund-raising auction was held on October 10.
