The many garden beds lining the streets throughout the CBD, which are maintained by community volunteers, are in bloom at the moment.
In 2019 the Nelson Bay Civic Pride team overhauled 15 garden beds in Magnus, Yacaaba, Stockton and Donald streets.
Across nine months, up to 30 volunteers helped formalise the then mostly neglected gardens.
Each garden bed is sponsored and features a plaque with the name of the sponsor who funded its establishment.
The Nelson Bay Civic Pride Group is a dedicated group of volunteers who have been working since 2017 to beautify the gardens and streets of Nelson Bay.
The grassroots community group was founded with the aim to boost the feel of the Nelson Bay CBD.
Volunteers can often be seen between 5am and 8am each morning weeding, watering or tending to one of the garden beds in the CBD.
In 2019, volunteers upcycled large garden pots and placed them throughout the CBD to add further vibrancy to the streets.
