Port Stephens Council electricians and Dwayne Hopper, also known as Hopper the Tree Lopper, and his team will be on site at the Old Rectory, where the 43 metre-tall Norfolk pine tree stands, on Monday to install the Christmas lights.
Mr Hopper has a long history with installing the Christmas lights in the Norfolk pine tree. So long in fact that he has lost track how many years he has done it.
But climbing the tree is a lot like riding a bike for Mr Hopper.
He knows what path to take to feed and install the 12 strings of 40-metre long, multi-coloured LED festoon lights into the tree. Then he fixes a star to the very top.
The council, who own the lights, will connect the lights to power.
The lights will be switched on during Carols Under the Christmas Tree on Friday, December 3. The family friendly carols event will kick off at 6pm.
Strings of LED Christmas lights are already installed in the two Norfolk pine trees at the entrance to Apex Park in Nelson Bay.
