Anthony "Tony" Booth was appointed principal of Wirreanda Public School about 30 years ago.
The Warners Bay resident, born October 22, 1937, died on February 22, 2022. He was 84 years old.
A funeral was held for Mr Booth at All Saints Anglican Church Speers Point-Boolaroo on March 3.
Mike Sparrow, a former principal of Medowie Public School, delivered an address at the funeral for his colleague and friend.
"I am honoured to pay tribute to Tony and his lifetime of family and educational achievements," Mr Sparrow said.
"When Tony was appointed to Wirreanda Public School just over 30 years ago he soon made a real impact.
"He was known as a man of integrity, an efficient leader, administrator and communicator, very caring of students, staff and community with the human touch.
"He handled efficiently the rapid growth of Wirreanda school in terms of additional students and accomodation, reflecting the huge growth of east Medowie in the 1990s.
"As a school leader colleague, Tony and I worked very well together, offering mutual support when duty called.
"At the bicentenary assembly of 1988 at Medowie Public School, Tony met the Governor-General, Sir Ninian Stephens, and Lady Stephens. In 1994 Tony was a partner in the centenary celebrations, marking 100 years of education in the Medowie area.
"Tony's name still features on a plaque on a huge rock at the entrance of the Bower Estate, off Medowie Road. Tony's name will always live on in the Medowie area and within the Wirreanda Public School community.
"Tony leaves a legacy of kindness and ability. A Wirreanda and Medowie champion of the late 20th century."
Mr Booth is survived by wife Peg and children (plus in-laws) Mark and Jodi, James and Bonnie, Andrew and Linda. He was a grandfather to six and great-grandfather to five.
