WATER POLO Sydney Northern Beaches coach Scott Schweickle sent his side's opposition a pre-tournament warning on Wednesday afternoon, ahead of the 2016 Water Polo NSW under 16 girls’ State Championship - the Breakers are here to win. Sydney Northern Beaches open the four-day tournament on Thursday morning with a blockbuster clash against UTS Balmain, and Schweickle said his troops are primed and ready to take control of the competition from the word go. “We’re definitely here to win, like every other team I’d assume,” he said. “It is a bit of a development phase for a lot of teams here I think, we’re expecting a pretty tough, competitive tournament. “There’s quite a few teams who are [contenders], so I think it might be a bit about who shows up on the day.” The Breakers are expected to be among the favourites for the division A title, and are one of 20 sides visiting the colour city from all over the state. Most of the sides are city-based, with Kinross Wolaroi School the only local hopes, competing in division B with 10 other sides - a number of which also have squads in division A. “UNSW will be strong, Cronulla will be too, as will Hunter. They’ll be very hard to beat I think,” Schweickle said. “Honestly I’m not really sure about the rest of the sides.” The games kicks off at 7.30am on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
