The school won the Colonial bank's 'Let's Live Better - Run Around Australia' competition, which saw 24 shopping centres across Australia participate in a program that aimed to promote healthy lifestyle choices for children in various school communities.
The school wins a $10,000 canteen menu makeover, two food education seminars for canteen staff from the Children's Food Education Foundation valued at $6,000 as well as $15,000 worth of sport and educational equipment and $15,000 cash. Soldiers Point principal Simon Parsons said the school would use the money to modernise classrooms.
"The funds will be of huge benefit for improving the educational opportunities for the students," he said.
"As far as the money goes, what we aim to do is purchase a number of iPads for the school to go into classrooms.
He said the school would also aim to put some of the money to improving the playground with new seating areas and pathways.
