The Bulahdelah vineyard took out gold for its second commercial vintage 2013 verdelho.
"The wine has a combination of good fruit character, a clean fresh finish and no harsh phenolics," Old Inn Road Vineyard owner Dale Bradshaw said.
"The grapes are pressed lightly which means less juice but of a higher quality," he said.
The wine was judged by an expert panel including Michael Coode of the Australian Wine Research Institute.
New England Wine Show committee secretary Merilyn Hottes said scoring gold was an excellent result for the vineyard's first showing.
The 2013 verdelho also went on to win best verdelho in its class at the show.
"It's recognition we're doing the right thing," Mr Bradshaw said.
The verdelho, chambourcin and dolcetto grapes at the vineyard were planted in 2008 and produced their first commercial vintage last year.
Mr Bradshaw said he stood by the philosophy of minimal intervention with the vines and using largely organic and biodynamic practices.
Old Inn Road wines are available locally from the Lady Jane Motor Inn at Bulahdelah, Bulahdelah Bowling Club, Hawks Nest Golf Club, Benchmark on Booner, Tillermans Restaurant and Myall Shores Resort.
