It comes under the community chest program whereby a portion of money made from the sale of IGA products feeds straight back into the town.
President of the Bulahdelah Show Society, Gary Gooch, said the money had come at a great time for them after their major income earner, the annual campdrafting competition, had to be cancelled because of the dry weather.
The society plans to use the donation to install a hot water system and new cupboards in the meeting room at the show ground.
"Then we may even consider the possibility of hiring it out as a meeting room," Mr Gooch said.
The Great Lakes Nursing Home will use its donation to improve the comfort of the place for residents.
