Myall Pharmacy in both Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest has launched the eRx Express app so people can order their scripts using their smart phones.
The new app means customers can scan and pre-order their medicines for pick up on the day and time they want.
Graeme Hackworthy of Myall Pharmacy said the app was a great way to make collecting scripts easier for the community.
"We expect it to be of real benefit for people who are busy as well as anybody who might need to plan a trip to the pharmacy," he said.
"Ultimately we expect this to mean less waiting time for our customers and patients and that's a real positive."
The free app has three key steps: scan scripts using the QR code that appears on the prescription, submit the script to the pharmacy, and nominate a time and date to collect the medicine.
Mr Hackworthy said the paper script still needs to be brought into the pharmacy at the time of pick up.
The app is available for iPhone, Android and Windows smartphones. It can be downloaded at the app store for iPhone, Google Play for Android and Windows Phone for Microsoft.
