Tennis Club
GREAT Lakes Council has agreed to replace our ancient bush table and bench sets.
The original equipment was found or donated, and is unsafe and well and truly past its "use by" date.
The tennis club did very well through increased usage of the court this year and we have transferred further funds into our term deposit account, which is a "sinking fund" for when we have to replace the court surface (cost up to about $20,000).
This can be between 15 and 20 years depending on usage and maintenance, particularly with algae growth on the synthetic surface.
Re-sanding is required about every two years and costs around $600, so we really need to watch our finances to ensure we have a sustainable asset for the community.
We now have 34 tennis playing club members from a permanent population of around 220, which is almost 16 per cent.
