The plans for the work were set to come before the council on Tuesday night and if approved could lead to the Port becoming home to one of Australia's first bona fide tourism tree houses worth $48,000.
Also planned as part of the makeover will be the introduction of 10 eco tents worth a total of $180,000 and 10 first-time camping tents worth $18,000.
Eco tents provide an under canvas experience without having to pitch a tent, while first-time camping is less grand and less expensive than eco tents and is similar to the set-up used at Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour.
A council report states the changes come in a bid to increase patronage and revenue to the camping area.
"Soldiers Point Holiday Park has struggled to remain viable since its redevelopment in 2004," the council's property services manager, Carmel Foster, wrote in her report.
New managers took responsibility of the site in December last year and the refurbishment ideas stem from them.
"The new contract managers have extensive experience in the accommodation, hospitality and tourism industry and are recommending the introduction of three innovative new products to provide a unique selling point for the park," Ms Foster wrote.
The occupancy rate for the camping area has fluctuated between 17 per cent and 19 per cent with marketing and advertising unable to increase the trends.
