Teacher and aboriginal education co-ordinator Miriam Avery said a big day was planned for Wednesday, June 25, when the school would celebrate NAIDOC Week.
‘‘We’ll have a range of cultural activities the kids will rotate around,’’ she said.
‘‘From taste-testing traditional food to watching a dance performance by Hunter River High students, to watching Snake Tales, a talk on reptiles.’’
Ms Avery said the activities gave students a broader understanding of life before European settlement and helped foster tolerance and understanding in children.
School principal Mark Clemson said art, sports, dance and other cultural activities had been planned for Naidoc day.
He said the school’s students would be able to taste a variety of traditional meats including emu, crocodile and kangaroo.
